Moorpark College "Boo At The Zoo" Blog #8

What a beautiful sunny saturday afternoon on October 29th, 2011. My cousin Sandy and I decided to take our little cousin's Jenny and Mikey to the Moorpark College Zoo. They don't have a whole lot of animals to see. It's pretty much a Mini Zoo, but you do get to learn a lot about each animal which makes the experience so much memorable. They had so much fun seeing all the animals and learning different things about each animal. We arrived at 2:00p.m and started our day by looking at all the animals they had.

We saw an American Alligator (Alligator Mississippiensis), the America Alligator is from the spanish, which means "the lizard." Did you know that a male America Alligator typically grows to be between 13 to 15 feet long. While the female usually grows up to about 10 feet long. That's so crazy; isn't that!!!! I never knew that until today. The reason why I shared this information about the American Alligator was because. It was the one of the animals that caught my attention. We got to see so many wonderful animals. We saw a lamb, Bobcat, Mountain Lion, Female Lion, Monkeys, Spur-Winged Plover, A well trained Dog, Lizards, A 500 pound tortoise & last but not least... My favorite type of bird. A Burrowing Owl. I think that was my favorite part about visiting the Moorpark zoo.

My heart literally dropped when I saw the burrowing owl. In high school I did a project in my graphic computer design class, about that partially owl. It felt so good, being able to share some few things about the burrowing owl to my cousin Sandy, Jenny and Mikey. I even shared it with the people taking care of the burrowing owl. The information I shared about the Burrowing owl was, that in the mid-east people use the Burrowing Owl as a target "practice" shooting. The Burrowing Owl is so kind, that when it sees humans it does not flee nor tries to hide away. Which that makes it an easy target for practice shooting. So harmful to this poor innocent owl. I was so glad I got to see the Burrowing Owl in person. :D (I'm still super HAPPY).

After learning many things about each animal we took a brake, and had lunch. We got to see a show on The Lamb, Turtle from South America, Trained dog named Ciara & the smallest monkey in South America. It was so nice how the people from the show made all the kids say (trick-or-treat) and put their finger on their nose while saying it. That was so the next animal could come out. After seeing the show, we got to see the lions & bobcat get feed by their trainer. It was nice seeing them, because they would have them doing tricks in order for them to get feed.

My little cousins Jenny and Mikey had such a great time. They got to learned about the few animals Moorpark College Zoo had. They also got to play games and win Halloween prizes. The Zoo had staff members painting kids faces. My little cousins decided they both wanted to get something. My little cousin Jenny(5 Years Old) got a pink and purple butterfly drawn on her face. Mikey(6 Years Old) on the other hand, decided to go with the bad boy look. Lol, He got a web tattoo on his arm with a spider on it. It was a wonderful afternoon spending it with my cousins. Especially because it was an outdoor activity, and i love the outdoors.

Blog #6 My Main Friends (P.M’s)

Thania, Jose, Selina & I. Founders of our group<3

January 16, 2010 is when it all started. Jose, Thania, Selina and I started a group called (P.M’s,) which stands for pretty monsters. This group would be a group of just close friends only. So it started with eight of us. Later on through the year five close friends of ours got into our little group, which made 13 special people. Before making this group of close friends we were already very close to on another. We just wanted to make something special, that later on in the future we would all look back to it. My main friends are more than just friends. They are my family. I am so blessed with wonderful individuals. Each one of them plays a special role in our group. From being the responsible one, to the crazy one, the loudest, the quite one, to the one that is always organizing events for all of us to get together. The special thing about my friends is that no matter what the situation is we always try to be there for on another. We always figure a way out of a bad situation to a good situation.

Jose, Jasmine, Teffany, Marielle, Selina, I, Christine and Nancy.

The special thing about our group is that everyone has their own personalities, which makes our group fun.
  • Jose, is the one that is always making the group get loud and crazy. Without him the group isn’t the same. He’s carefree, doesn’t care what people thing of him and he’s just very very loud.
  • Thania, she’s the sweetest. Very down to earth girl. People see her as the calm one. But there’s a twice in her, that no one really knows unless your very close to her.
  • Selina, is calm as well. Might seem quite at times, but when it comes to being around our close friends the true side of her comes out. We like to say the “black girl” comes out. (: But only when were having a good time.
  • Sandy, is the loudest. She loves to make the group laugh when there is something going wrong. You can never go wrong with her.
  • Jasmine, she’s the responsible one from the group. She is always the one that actually thinks before we decide to do something.
  • Stephanie, is the quite on from our group. She likes to give advice, but doesn’t like to ask for any. She’s like the mother of our group.
  • Teffany, is the littlest one from the group. But the feistiest one, if someone does anything to one of our group members. You’re defiantly on her bad side. She likes to look over us.
  • Christine, is very outgoing. No better words to describe her.
  • Marielle, is the smart one from our group. But takes everything very slow. Which makes her funny at times.
  • Nancy, is the one that doesn’t really care about anything. She just likes to go with the flow.
  • Dina, has a huge heart. She's always thinking of others before her self, which makes her very special.
  • Drahnier, is the perfect one from our group. He is the one that worries about EVERYTHING. He’s just very perfectionist.
One does not belong in this picture & missing two friend to complete the special 13.

Blog#4----- 5 Things like/love.

I didn't have a clue on what to write my blog this week. So I choose my favorite number "5." So I decided to write about five things that I like/love.

My parents.
1. Family--- My Parents

Every single person has capabilities, abilities and gifts. In this story, my family has the capability to make me happy, the ability to make me do better and bigger things and sure are the gifts to my life. Family is something I definitely consider before anyone. I’m very close to all of my family. I I’m very blessed to have the family I do, and I’m very proud of that. My parents have been together for 19 years already. They were each others sweetheart in high school, and grew their love to a bigger extent. I sure do look up to both of them. My parent’s aren’t like most parents. I consider them more than parents---they are my best friends.

My main friends. Missing one to complete the 13 of us.

2. Friends--- That turn into family

I’m not the type of person to have a big group of friends that I can consider all of them very close to me. But all of it changed my junior year in high school. I grew a special bond with 13 special people, eleven girls and two guys. Each and one of them have a special place in my heart. I never thought I can share the deepest secrets with all of my friends. But these are my friends that turn into family in my life. I’m very bless to have a big group of friends, that I can count on.

With my little cousin, during our hike.

3. Going out--- Hiking

I love going out. Whether it’s going for a walk, watching movies or shopping. Something I love the most is, hiking. I love to take long walks. Two years ago on Valentines Day my family and I decided to spend our morning hiking on a mountain full of snow. How exciting was that for me. I don’t recall the name of the place, but it was such a beautiful place. I enjoy the out doors very much. If it has to do with walking and exploring new routes, I’m so in it.
Having dinner at Claim Jumper. One of my favorite restaurants.

4. Food---

When it comes to food I’m a very picky eater. I don’t eat meat AT ALL!!!! Never did, never will. Ever since I was little I’ve dislike it. I’m somewhat of a veggie person. I say that because I do eat chicken. But I can’t eat the chicken if it’s on the bond.  How weird is that, Right? I really don’t like eating in fast food restaurants. I rather choose restaurants before going into any fast food restaurants.

My favorite summer Cathy Jean sandals.

5. Shoes--- Heels & Boats.

Shoes Shoes Shoes!!!!! I love shoes. But when I say shoes, I don’t mean regular shoes. In fact, you will never see me wearing regular shoes, only if I’m going running or hiking. I’m more into boats, sandals, flats, and heels. I love wearing heels the most. If it was for me, I would wear heels everyday. I own over 30 pairs of heels, 6 boats, 13 sandals and 4 running shoes. I know by the end of the year, I will be needing a much bigger space to put all of my shoe collection.
